To foster a culture of transparency and accountability in  public service, the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ondo State Directorate, has organised a workshop on asset declaration and conduct for its staff members.

The training aligns with the recent push by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to digitalise the asset declaration.

The state Director of NOA, Mr. James Adekunle, emphasised the importance of integrity in public service and reiterated the constitutional obligation of all public officers to declare their assets.

He noted that the training was part of a nationwide initiative by the Director-General of the agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, to foster compliance and accountability among staff members.

The declaration of assets is not only a legal requirement but also a professional safeguard. Public servants must understand the implications of non-compliance,” Adekunle stated, urging participants to take the session seriously.

The workshop facilitator, Mr. Chilaka Pascal Dozie, who provided insights into the Code of Conduct’s principles and the rationale behind asset declaration.

He cautioned that asset disclosures must align with legitimate earnings, as stipulated in the 1999 Constitution, and warned against violations such as refusal to declare assets, receiving double emoluments, operating private businesses, and accepting bribes.

Chilaka said the CCB has started the digitalisation of asset declaration, which he said will make compliance easier and more efficient.
