Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has warned against underestimating opponents in the Turkish Super Lig, citing Kasımpaşa as one of the most difficult teams his side has faced since his arrival from Napoli.
The Nigerian international spoke after Galatasaray secured a 3-1 victory over Kasımpaşa on Friday evening, stressing that matches against seemingly less formidable opponents could pose significant challenges.
Speaking to HT Spor, Osimhen said Galatasaray had anticipated a difficult encounter, in line with the assessment of their coach.
According to the striker, Kasımpaşa have consistently troubled the Turkish champions, recalling a previous encounter in which his side surrendered a three-goal lead before the opposition fought back to secure a 3-3 draw.
“The one thing you should never do in this league is underestimate any team or opponent,” Osimhen said.
He added that Kasımpaşa had been among the teams that had given Galatasaray the most problems since he joined the club.
The victory strengthens Galatasaray’s position at the top of the Turkish Super Lig standings, with the Istanbul giants accumulating 16 points from seven matches.
Osimhen will now turn his attention to Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Barcelona on Tuesday, as the Nigerian forward hopes to help his side maintain their winning momentum against the Spanish giants.
The former Napoli striker has remained a key figure in Galatasaray’s attacking setup, with the club seeking to combine domestic success with a strong showing in European competition.
