Former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has raised concerns over the safety of some fruits and agricultural produce in Nigeria, recounting an experience involving his wife and fresh orange juice.
Osinbajo reportedly said his wife began experiencing frequent headaches a few months after she stopped drinking Coca-Cola and switched to freshly squeezed orange juice.
According to the former vice-president, the family became concerned about the recurring headaches and decided to send a fresh batch of the orange juice for laboratory testing.
He claimed that the laboratory results indicated that the oranges used to prepare the juice were not fit for human consumption, alleging that dangerous chemicals had been used by farmers to ripen and preserve the fruits.
