Osun APC Crisis Deepens as Four State Executives Reject Presidential Campaign Committee List

Fresh disagreement has emerged within the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the rejection of a newly released presidential campaign committee list by four members of the party’s State Executive Committee.

The aggrieved officials faulted the composition of the list, alleging that it violated established party guidelines, disregarded due process and failed to accommodate key stakeholders.

The disagreement followed the release of a parallel presidential campaign committee list by the Osun APC chairman on Monday, naming the party’s governorship candidate as Director-General.

The development came after Governor Ademola Adeleke, identified as the coordinator of the Presidential Campaign Council in the state, had inaugurated a broad-based committee to coordinate the president’s campaign activities.

In a joint statement, four State Executive Committee members, Wole Adunola, State Publicity Secretary; Adesola Ayangbile, Welfare Officer; Rasheed Adeniji, Assistant Organising Secretary; and Abiola Ololade, Ex-Officio member, formally rejected the newly published list.

They expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as the exclusion of important party officials who, according to them, should automatically be members of the campaign council under the applicable guidelines.

The officials said the omission of several members of the State Working Committee raised questions about consultation, inclusiveness and respect for the party’s established leadership structure.

They also questioned why another campaign structure had emerged despite an earlier presidential directive reportedly naming Adeleke as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council in Osun State.

According to them, the governor had already inaugurated a broad-based campaign team following the directive, making the emergence of another list without adequate explanation a source of concern.

The party executives further demanded clarification on the mandate of the newly constituted committee, particularly whether it was established to coordinate campaigns for National Assembly candidates or the presidential election.

They argued that the responsibilities of a Parliamentary Campaign Council should be clearly separated from those of the Presidential Campaign Council to prevent confusion, duplication of duties and unnecessary internal disputes.

The aggrieved members consequently appealed to the national leadership of the APC to intervene and resolve the disagreement before it affects the party’s campaign activities in the state.

They specifically called on the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate an immediate review of the list.

The officials maintained that proper consultation and alignment with existing party structures were necessary to prevent further divisions and ensure effective coordination of the APC’s 2027 presidential campaign in Osun State.
