Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has commissioned the 55-room ORIS Signature Hotel in Aba, assuring investors that his administration will continue to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive across the state.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Otti congratulated the hotel’s Chief Executive Officer, Owelle Greg Okafor, for completing the project within two years and a few months.
Otti said the development was a reflection of the changing fortunes of Aba, recalling that the city faced poor road infrastructure and struggling industries when his administration assumed office.
According to him, the growing investment activities and demand for accommodation in Aba indicate increasing confidence in the city’s business environment.
This hotel project started early in 2024 and two years plus a few months later, he has delivered it. When we came on board three years and a few months ago, all of us who were brought up in Aba know what we met, but that’s not the story for today,” Otti said.
The governor also disclosed that the hotel was already recording strong patronage even before its official commissioning.
He invited investors who had previously relocated from Abia, as well as prospective investors, to return and take advantage of the opportunities emerging in the state.
Otti further disclosed that the Radisson Blu Enyimba Hotel would soon be completed, expressing confidence that the continued expansion of business activities would drive further growth in Aba.
This town will continue to grow. All our people who relocated, we are asking them to come back quickly. A lot of them are already back,” he said.
The Mayor of Aba North, Hon. Timothy Iheke, commended the governor for what he described as efforts to improve the business environment and attract investments to Aba and Abia State.
Earlier, the General Manager of ORIS Signature Hotel, Mr. Sharon Mani, said the facility has 55 rooms and world-class amenities. He explained that the decision to invest in Abia was influenced by the conducive environment created under the Otti administration.
Speaking on behalf of the Aba business community, industrialist Sir Leo Ike Okoye also praised the governor for his commitment to supporting businesses in the city.
The event was attended by the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, members of the House of Assembly, commissioners, the Mayors of Aba North and South, business leaders and other dignitaries.
The commissioning ceremony was held on September 27, 2026.
