The Oyo State Police Command has uncovered a human trafficking ring in Ibadan, rescuing 84 victims, including a child, during a raid on a residential property in the Orogun area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims, believed to be from the Democratic Republic of Congo, were lured to Nigeria with false promises of lucrative jobs. The traffickers allegedly extorted large sums of money in U.S. dollars from the victims’ families.
The rescued individuals are currently being sheltered at the Police Headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, as authorities continue investigations to expose the full network and bring those responsible to justice.
