Peter Obi Says Nigeria Was “Looted Into Poverty” by Political Elites

Peter Obi

Peter Obi blasts Nigeria’s leadership, says the country was “looted into poverty” by those entrusted with power.

Speaking on News Central TV, Obi said it is unacceptable that a nation blessed with massive oil wealth, fertile land, and millions of hardworking youths now suffers from hunger, insecurity, unemployment, and collapsing living conditions.

He accused political elites and “beneficiaries of democracy” within the system of destroying institutions, weakening justice, and turning governance into a tool for personal enrichment while ordinary Nigerians suffer daily.

Obi warned that Nigeria cannot survive on propaganda, consumption, and corruption, insisting the country must urgently return to production, accountability, security, and credible democracy before total collapse.

He said Nigerians deserve a country where people can live safely, work with dignity, and raise their children without fear or hopelessness ahead of 2027.
