The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a notorious cultist identified as Olujide Boluwaji Israel, popularly known as Kendowell, for his alleged involvement in cult-related activities around the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.

The Commissioner of Police, Wale Adebowale Lawal, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Akure on Saturday. He revealed that the arrest was made following credible intelligence reports linking the 28-year-old suspect to violent operations believed to have endangered the safety of students and residents within the area.

“Kendowell, a senior member of the Eiye Confraternity, has been a major figure in the cult violence troubling Owo and its environs. His arrest sends a clear message to criminals that Ondo State remains a safe place for law-abiding citizens,” the Commissioner stated.

According to Lawal, Kendowell is currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing to track down his fleeing accomplices. He assured the public that no effort would be spared in dismantling criminal gangs threatening the peace of the state.

The police boss also confirmed that all suspects connected to the case would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. He further urged the people of Ondo State to remain vigilant and continue to provide useful information to security agencies to help combat crime.

The arrest is part of ongoing security operations aimed at curbing cult-related violence and restoring normalcy within tertiary institutions and surrounding communities in the state.
