It was reported on Sunday that some persons were arrested by the Dunamis, Glory Dome Church, Security operatives in Abuja and they were subsequently handed over to the Department of State Services for an act they displaced during the church’s Sunday service. It was reported that during the service a call was made for those who want to give their lives to Christ to head out to the alter of the church. According to news that made rounds, it was at this point, some #Buharimustgo protesters came out from where they were sitting wear a #Muharimustgo shirt and chanting the inscription on their shirt.
All attempt by the service conductors to stop the protesters failed until security operatives in the church were able to disperse the protesters and restored peace to the service, during the sage, the church service was rowdy, as people made video of the incidents and the church had people streaming the service live from different places. The persons who perpetrated the act were arrested on their way out of the church and handed over to DSS.
The news of the incident sparked a mixed reaction, the founder of Dunamis gospel church, Pastor Paul Enenche, was criticized for the action of the security operatives, a group noted that if if the protesters were wearing a shirt with “sia baba”, inscription then the church would have welcomed them as a friend. On the other hand, some people maintained that that it was wrong to have arrested the protesters and hand over to DSS operatives.
Human Rights Activist and convener of the #Buharimustgo campaign together with another Human Rights Activist, Omoyele Sowore, Deji Adeyanju respectively led other supporters of the #Buharimustgo campaign to the premises of Dunamis on Monday morning to seek the release of the protesters who were arrested and handed to DSS on Sunday. The intention of the visit was to solicit for the release of the arrested youths but they encountered the presence of policemen at the premises of the Dunamis gospel church, located in Lugbe axis of Abuja.
Sowore who led his supporters to the church was seen in the video released on social media, addressing news men about the incident when a police man carrying an AK-47 assault rifle asked them to vacant the premises. The protesters didn’t pay attention to the policeman who asked them to leave, he was captured in the video when he threatened that he was going to shoot someone if Sowore and his supporters doesn’t leave the church premises.
