Real Madrid Legend, Fernando Morientes Demands Apology From Hazard For Laughing With Chelsea Stars

Real Madrid hero Fernando Morientes has demanded an apology from winger Eden Hazard after the Belgian was spotted laughing and joking with his former Chelsea team-mates after the full-time whistle on Wednesday night. Zinedine Zidane’s side were sent crashing out of the Champions League after a 2-0 defeat in west London. Hazard was an unexpected starter against his former side but the decision to play the 30-year-old backfired, as he put in a poor display against the Blues. To make matters worse, Hazard was seen laughing and joking with his former team-mates just moments after the full-time whistle.

Many supporters have called for Hazard to be sold, such is the level of anger at the £100m Belgian. And while Morientes hasn’t quite gone that far, he agrees that Hazard was in the wrong and says he needs to apologise to supporters.

At Real Madrid, even a slight defeat is experienced as a trauma,’ said Morientes. ‘I do not believe that Eden realises what football represents here. ‘I hope that the captains of the team will encourage him to quickly apologise.’

Zidane knew he was taking a gamble to play Hazard given his lack of football. But the Frenchman insists he and Sergio Ramos were fit to play. ‘We were playing a semi-final and every player was ready, they wouldn’t have played if they were not,’ Zidane told reporters. ‘We can all be proud of the players, we gave it our best shot and we got here, to within one step of the final. Chelsea put in a great performance and you have to congratulate them. ‘Eden has to get his confidence back and he needs to keep playing. Little by little, we have to make sure he recovers.’
