Former presidential aide and political commentator Reno Omokri has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding FBI records and the crïmïnal status of Nigeria’s leading political figures.
According to Omokri, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no crïmïn̈al record, while noting that several major presidential candidates, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, have also had records or documents associated with the FBI.
However, Omokri stressed an important distinction: having an FBI record does not automatically mean that an individual has a cṛïmïn̈al record.
«“President Tinubu has no criminal record. All the major presidential candidates have FBI records, including Atiku and Peter Obi, and those records are not necessarily cṛïmïňal.”»
The clarification comes amid renewed discussions online about the meaning of FBI records and what they actually reveal about Nigerian politicians.
An FBI record or document can arise from various circumstances and should not, on its own, be interpreted as proof that someone committed a cṛïmë.
Omokri’s comments have therefore added another layer to a debate that continues to generate strong reactions among supporters of Nigeria’s major political camps
