Nigeria’s House of Representatives has approved a $516 million external loan tied to the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The project is being handled by Hitech Construction Company Limited, under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Works.
The proposed highway spans about 1,068 km, linking Illela in Sokoto State to Badagry in Lagos State across multiple states.
Minister of Works, Nweze David Umahi, has been overseeing the project, alongside Minister of State for Works, Bello Mohammed Goronyo.
Hitech is also linked to other major federal road projects currently ongoing, including sections of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, in addition to past projects such as the Apapa–Oshodi Expressway.
The loan, reportedly arranged with involvement from institutions such as Deutsche Bank, adds to Nigeria’s external borrowing as work continues on the project.
