The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, in Abia State, Ebere Uzokwa, has berated the national chairman of the party, Ozonkpu Victor Oye, over the poor handling of the affairs of the party in the country.

This came following several calls by some leaders and stakeholders of APGA, particularly in South-East geo-political zone, on the party’s national chairman to throw in the towel for lacking the capacities to preside over the activities of the party.

Uzokwa, who made the state party leadership’s position known in an interview with reporters in Aba on Thursday, decried the alleged fraudulent activities of the Oye-led National Working Committee (NWC) of APGA during the last general elections.

He pointed out that the party national chairman’s alleged failure to run the affairs of the party properly, led exodus of APGA leaders and stakeholders from the party.

The party’s spokesman, however, backed numerous calls by thousands of APGA faithful, asking Oye to resign for lacking the competence in managing the affairs of the party since assumption of office.

His words, “The call for his removal is legitimate. And it is necessitated by events of 2018 and 2019. If you can cast your mind back, you will see and agree with me that before the just-concluded elections, APGA was positioned to take over Abia and Imo States.

Oye’s activities created the exit door which led to the mass exodus in the party.

“There is no gainsaying that such massive exit from the party, in one way other the other affected what I will call, a poor outing in the last election. You can also remember or you must have also read that many people who won their primaries, their names were replaced by those that didn’t contest the primaries at all.

“That is to say, Chief Victor Oye and cohorts literally put APGA for sale. They sold the party tickets to the highest bidders. And that is not good for a party that wants to win elections. Some people are calling for his resignation. So, I think, such call is well informed and legitimate. I also join them to call Oye to throw in the towel, allow those you have capacities, those who have enormous goodwill to come on board and rebuild APGA for future engagement”.
