Some individuals and clubs would be honoured by Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN ), Anambra chapter for their contributions to development of sports in the state and the country in general.
Some of the individuals are the foremost sports facility investors, Rommy Ezeonwuka proprietor of Rojenny Stadium Oba, near Onitsha and Poly Emenike , MD/CEO NEROs pharmaceutical who is the owner of NEROS stadium, Nanka in Orumba North Council Area.
This recognition for sports personalities will be the climax of 2019 SWAN Week in Anambra which would run between Nov. 28 and Nov. 30.
Philip Balepo, Chairman of the SWAN Week planning committee, the programme would feature road show in partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps and select games on Thursday; tour of facilities on Friday and Lecture/ Gala Night on Saturday.
Balepo said the essence was to give honour to individuals who spent their hard earned money on sports infrastructure or those who floated clubs/academies to provide platform for athletes and athletes.
He said SWAN will continue to promote excellence and engage stakeholders constructively to get the best in the Anambra sports sector.
The chairman said others who would receive recognition include Emeka Egbogota, a Japanese based sports promoter, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Nnewi, Aspire FC Adazi, Udala FC Uke and Dosad Academy, Enugu-Ukwu.
Also speaking, Anthony Oji, chairman of SWAN in Anambra said the SWAN Week will also provide opportunity for stakeholders to review the state of sports in the state and chat away forward the state that is blessed with some of the finest athletes.
He urged SWAN members, journalists and lovers off sports to join in the activities.
