Saudi Arabia Deports Sheikh Gumi Over Alleged Terror Links

Sheikh Gumi

Saudi Arabian authorities have reportedly arrested and deported prominent Nigerian Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, back to Nigeria shortly after his arrival in the kingdom for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.

According to reports, Gumi arrived in Saudi Arabia on May 24 but was denied entry and immediately deported over allegations linking him to extremist elements and claims that he is a terrorist sympathizer.

The cleric later confirmed his deportation, stating that Saudi immigration officials informed him that his name was “not found in the system,” a situation that allegedly led to his removal from the country despite holding a valid visa.

Multiple reports, however, claim Saudi authorities had already placed restrictions on his entry into the kingdom before his arrival.
