Abba Aliyu Tilde, Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has resigned from his position, citing what he described as a lack of respect, communication and regard for his contributions.
In a resignation letter addressed to the senator, Tilde said his decision to leave was not an easy one, stressing that he had served with dedication, loyalty and commitment.
However, he said he had reached a point where he could no longer continue working in an environment where he felt his efforts and position were not accorded the respect he believed was necessary for a productive working relationship.
Tilde specifically cited the senator’s recent visit to his ward as a major source of disappointment.
According to him, a meeting was held with people from his ward during the visit without any prior notification or communication to him.
He described the incident as “deeply disrespectful and hurtful,” arguing that, given his position and connection to the people of the ward, he deserved to be informed and carried along.
The aide said the incident, alongside other experiences in which he allegedly felt ignored despite his continued efforts, convinced him that he could no longer work effectively under the circumstances.
Tilde maintained that political and public-service relationships should be built on mutual respect, communication, trust and recognition of each other’s roles.
He said he was therefore choosing resignation as “the most honourable decision” and was leaving with a clear conscience, having given his best in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Despite the circumstances surrounding his resignation, Tilde expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the senator’s Senior Legislative Aide and wished Senator Shehu Buba Umar success in his continued service to the people.
The resignation takes effect immediately, according to the letter.
