President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday sent a delegation to condole with the family of the late Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Mr Usman Umar.
Umar was killed on July 22 during a violent protest by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria in Abuja.
The Shi’ites were protesting against the continued detention of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, by the Federal Government.
The three-man delegation comprised of the State Chief of Protocol to the President, Ambassador Abdullahi Lawal-Kazuare; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu; and the Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to the President, Seriki Abba.
On hand to receive the delegation was the elder brother to the slain DCP, Usman Belel, and Umar’s widow, Busrah.
