Residents of Abakpa axis in Enugu State have reportedly uncovered the circumstances surrounding a disturbing incident involving a newborn baby found abandoned in a gutter along Amaechi Road.
According to earlier reports by Akelicious Media, the lifeless body of the infant was discovered in the area days after the incident, sparking outrage and concern among members of the community.
Following investigations by residents, a young woman allegedly linked to the incident was later identified and confronted. She initially denied involvement but reportedly confessed after being presented with what residents described as evidence.
Eyewitnesses said the situation nearly escalated into violence as some angry members of the community attempted to assault her, but others intervened and called for calm, insisting that due process be allowed to take its course.
The woman was eventually handed over to the appropriate authorities, while arrangements were made for the burial of the deceased infant.
