A viral video making the rounds on social media has sparked outrage and disbelief as a man alleges that the Benue State Government is now providing armed escort for herds of cows through the capital city, Makurdi. The video, recorded at night, appears to show a convoy of cattle being accompanied by vehicles and security personnel.
In the clip, the eyewitness can be heard lamenting:
“Benue State government is now escorting cows in Makurdi. A country where the government regards human life as less than that of cows.”
Social media has since erupted with reactions, with many questioning the seeming lack of urgency in protecting human lives while resources are allegedly being used to safeguard livestock.
“This is beyond heartbreaking. Our people are being slaughtered, and the government is giving VIP treatment to cows,” one commenter wrote.
