Sowore Demands Immediate Release of Regina Daniels’ Brother, Accuses Nwoko of Influence Abuse

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to immediately release Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, who is the younger brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

In a statement posted online, Sowore alleged that Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North under the All Progressives Congress (APC), orchestrated the arrest and detention of Sammy West at the Keffi Correctional Centre. He claimed the senator acted “in concert” with the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, whom he described as “illegal,” and accused unnamed magistrates of enabling what he termed “an unholy alliance of impunity.”

According to Sowore, the arrest was unjust and politically motivated. He alleged that the police filed “bogus charges” against Sammy West and called for his immediate release.

“It is deeply unfortunate that this pattern of intimidation continues despite repeated public outcry,” Sowore said. “The Nigeria Police Force must put an end to this brigandage and free Sammy West without delay.”

Sammy West’s detention has stirred widespread reactions on social media, with supporters demanding transparency and due process.
