Spain Declares Humanitarian Emergency

Spanish authorities have declared a humanitarian emergency in the North African enclave of Ceuta after more than 1,500 migrants crossed into the territory by swimming from neighbouring Morocco.

Local officials said reception centres have been overwhelmed by the sudden influx, leaving hundreds of migrants with no choice but to sleep outdoors as emergency services struggle to cope.

Videos circulating on social media show large groups of migrants arriving on Ceuta’s shoreline over the past few days, highlighting the scale of the latest migration surge.
