‘Stop Blaming Nigeria’ — Reno Omokri Reacts After Buying ₦115k Fuel in California

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has urged Nigerians to stop constantly criticising the country over the rising cost of fuel, arguing that the price surge is part of a global trend driven by the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

Omokri made the remark after sharing his experience buying petrol in California, United States, where he said he purchased 45 litres (about 12 gallons) of fuel for ₦115,000.

According to him, the development should remind Nigerians that fuel price increases are not unique to Nigeria but are being experienced across many parts of the world due to global market pressures.

“Stop condemning Nigeria. Fuel price hikes are global because of the Iran war,” he said, while urging citizens to appreciate local efforts aimed at improving fuel supply.

Omokri also called for recognition of the role of Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote, whose refinery project is expected to help reduce the country’s reliance on imported petroleum products.

Global energy markets have been under pressure since the outbreak of the Iran conflict, with crude oil prices surging sharply and pushing up the cost of petrol in several countries. Analysts say the conflict has disrupted supply chains and increased uncertainty in energy markets, leading to higher pump prices for consumers.
