The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has sworn in eight new Justices of the Supreme court. The swearing-in of the eight justices of the supreme court will make it 20 from its initial 12.
The Supreme court was filled to capacity for the business of the day, not for the regular court sitting but the swearing in of the eight new justices.
The Chief justice of Nigeria presided over the event as the new justices took turns to take their oath of office and allegiance. After their swearing-in, they took further steps to join their colleagues on the bench.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, however, charged them to be upright in their dealings.
The newly elevated Justices are Justices Lawal Garba, justice Helen Ogunwumiju, justice Abdul Aboki, Justice Adamu Jauro, and justice Samuel Oseji . Others are justice Tijani Abubakar, justice Emmanuel Agim and justice Mohammed Saulawa
With this number, it is expected that the many number of cases pending before the Supreme court will be dispensed off timely with ease.
