In a significant development addressing the escalating political tensions in Rivers State, suspended Governor Fubara publicly expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his swift and decisive intervention. He credited the President’s involvement with averting a potential descent into anarchy caused by the ongoing political crisis threatening the state’s stability.

Governor Fubara stated, “We are already in the peace process. I want you to thank Mr. President for his timely intervention to salvage the situation, and stabilize the polity and the State. If not for Mr. President, the story today would have been different.” His remarks underline the critical role played by the federal leadership in calming unrest and fostering dialogue.

Since President Tinubu’s intervention, Fubara revealed that multiple reconciliatory meetings have taken place, notably at the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. These discussions signify a concrete step toward healing rifts and restoring political harmony in Rivers State.

“There is no reason why there will not be peace between me and my Oga,” Fubara declared, referencing the Minister of the FCT and his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Wike. “There will be peace. We are meeting. We will reconcile.” His optimistic tone conveys a strong commitment to bridging divides and moving forward.

The Governor made these remarks during a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement, held as part of the activities commemorating his two years in office in Port Harcourt on Thursday. The event highlighted efforts to foster unity and progress within Rivers State despite recent political challenges
