Tension In Imo State Over Supreme Court Review

Palpable tension has enveloped residents of Imo State following the commencement of the review of the January 14, ruling of the Supreme Court that sacked Hon Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the governor of the state and ordered the installation of Senator Hope Uzodinma, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate on the March 9, 2019 governorship election in the state, as the new governor of the state.

The apex court had in unanimous ruling annulled the election of Emeka Ihedioha and declared Hope Uzodinma as the winner of the polls.

Dissatisfied with the ruling, Ihedioha and the PDP relying on the support of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party approached the highest court in the land for reversal of the earth-shaking judgement which jolted the people of the state and the nation at large.

Expectedly, the air of uncertainty in the state has precipitated fears and apprehension among the people just as the matter has become a common discourse in all public places, such as eatery joints, markets, banks, schools, motor parks and even churches.
