
Fear has gripped residents of Amper in the BWI district of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State following a fresh attack in the community early Tuesday morning.
The incident, which reportedly claimed the lives of more than 20 people, including women and children, has raised fresh concerns over the worsening security situation in the area. Several others are also feared missing following the attack.
The latest incident is reportedly the third attack recorded in Mangu within the past week, increasing anxiety among residents who have continued to call for stronger security measures to prevent further violence.
The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the attack, with its Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, saying the initial report received by the command put the number of casualties at 18.
According to him, the casualty figure could rise above 20 as security personnel continue to gather information from the affected community.
Alabo added that the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Faniyan Ayodeji, alongside other senior officers, was on his way to the scene to assess the situation and coordinate the security response.
The renewed violence has left residents worried about their safety, with calls intensifying for authorities to increase security presence in vulnerable communities across Mangu and prevent further attacks.
