Thierry Henry Backs Mbappé for Ballon d’Or, Says He Was ‘Individually the Best’

Thierry Henry, Mbappé

Former France international Thierry Henry has thrown his weight behind Kylian Mbappé’s bid for the Ballon d’Or, insisting that the Real Madrid forward deserves the prestigious individual award.

Henry argued that Mbappé’s individual performances should carry significant weight in the voting, despite the attacker ending the campaign without a major team trophy.

“Ballon d’Or? Kylian for me deserves it. Individually, he was the best,” Henry said.

The former Arsenal captain highlighted Mbappé’s goalscoring achievements, pointing to his performances across the Champions League, La Liga and World Cup as evidence of his outstanding individual campaign.

“He was the top goal scorer in the UCL, La Liga and World Cup,” Henry added.

Addressing criticism that Mbappé’s lack of silverware should rule him out of contention, Henry argued that the Ballon d’Or has previously been awarded to players who did not win major trophies during the year.

“People can say he went trophyless, but it has already happened in history,” he said.

“People need to do their research. The Ballon d’Or has been won without any trophies.”
