Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has stirred controversy with claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was among those who supported the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election by then-military ruler, Ibrahim Babangida (IBB).
In a bold statement, Lamido said:
“Tinubu was part of those who supported IBB’s annulment of June 12. His mother, Hajia Mogaji, even mobilized Lagos market women to back Babangida in Abuja.”
He further argued that Tinubu only became politically prominent after General Sani Abacha seized power, and joined NADECO, not necessarily to defend June 12, but to oppose Abacha’s dictatorship.
