Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development Solomon Dalung has criticised Nigerians who defend the Tinubu administration online despite struggling with the same economic challenges many citizens complain about.
Dalung said Nigerians are dealing with rising expenses, including transport fares, fuel costs, rent, school fees, medication and daily household needs, yet some spend their time defending the government and explaining its economic policies on social media.
He questioned why citizens who borrow money before salaries are paid would fight strangers online over the achievements of a government, stressing that political arguments do not pay for basic needs or ease the financial pressure on families.
“Your landlord doesn’t accept ‘Tinubu is trying’ as rent,” Dalung said, adding that “politics should leave social media and enter your pocket” as he urged Nigerians to focus on the realities of their economic situation.
