Troops of Sector 7, Sub-Sector 71, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), have rescued a 16-year-old boy who was allegedly kidnapped while returning from a graduation ceremony in Kaduna State.
The teenager, identified as Master Uche Chibuke, was rescued at about 11:00 a.m. on September 1, 2026, at Kurmin Goro in the Sanga area of the state.
Sources said Chibuke was abducted on Sunday, August 30, while travelling after attending a graduation ceremony at Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya.
He was reportedly on his way towards Onitsha when the suspected kidnappers abandoned him after sighting troops operating in the area.
The soldiers subsequently secured the teenager and moved him to safety.
The rescue comes as security operations continue across parts of Kaduna and other areas affected by kidnapping and other criminal activities.
Following the operation, efforts are underway to reunite Chibuke with his family.
Security agencies are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s abduction and working to establish the identities of the suspects involved.
The incident highlights the role of military patrols and security operations in disrupting criminal activities and protecting civilians along vulnerable routes.
