
Troops of Sector 1 under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim following a swift response to a suspected terrorist attack in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to security sources, the troops—deployed at Abaji—acted on credible intelligence received around 1:45 p.m. on April 21 about an attack on Tumataa community.
Upon arrival, the soldiers reportedly engaged the suspected terrorists in a fierce gun duel, forcing them to abandon the kidnapped victim and flee the scene under pressure.
The victim was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with family members, bringing relief to the affected community.
Sources further disclosed that troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have intensified operations across the area, with ongoing efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and prevent further attacks.
