A 27-year-old woman, Metallica Rose Harrison, has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after allegedly stabbing her husband and their 3-year-old son to death during a family getaway at a resort in Pennsylvania, United States.
According to police, the incident occurred inside a room at Great Wolf Lodge, where the family had been staying for several weeks. Authorities said the couple and their son checked in on September 21 and extended their stay on October 5.
Harrison allegedly stabbed her husband, Charles Harrison, and their son, identified by the initials T.H., in the chest before injuring herself on the wrists and neck in an apparent suicide attempt.
Police said she called 911 and asked for advice on how to find a vein to puncture, reportedly telling emergency services that she needed help dying.
“My husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room,” she allegedly told the dispatcher. “They’re already gone, I’m sorry.”
According to an affidavit, Harrison later told emergency medical personnel that she had worked hard to be a good mother and wife.
“Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife,” she reportedly said, adding that she had envisioned having a happy family since childhood.
Officers recovered two knives with teal handles, medication bottles and other potential evidence from the hotel room. Police said between 80 and 90 pieces of evidence were collected.
The Monroe County District Attorney described the incident as a domestic tragedy, stating that there was no current threat to the public.
Harrison remains hospitalized and had not been arraigned as of Tuesday night, according to the report. The investigation is ongoing.
