Social media activist VeryDarkMan has reacted to the latest increase in fuel prices, sharing a throwback video in which he warned Nigerians against accepting an increase in the pump price of petrol.
In the video dated May 31, 2023, VeryDarkMan urged Nigerians not to buy petrol at ₦545 per litre, warning that accepting the price increase would encourage further hikes.
Reflecting on the development, he said Nigerians had become accustomed to hardship, making it easier for authorities to introduce higher fuel prices.
VeryDarkMan recalled that the price of petrol later rose to about ₦1,300 per litre in July 2024, saying he again expressed concern at the time.
According to him, the situation has continued to worsen, with many Nigerians now complaining about the latest petrol price.
In his caption accompanying the throwback video, he wrote:
“31 May 2023, I warned and begged everyone not to buy fuel at ₦545. I told them if we accept that new price without fighting, the government will not stop there. They would increase it again and again.
“July 2024, the price went up to ₦1,300 per litre. I cried again because at the time, the youth were more interested in BBN.
“Fast forward to now, the new price is making you cry. It will go up again, so let us see less.”
