Residents of Monaque Avenue in Enugu State have appealed to Governor Peter Mbah and the state government to urgently rehabilitate their road, lamenting that its prolonged abandonment has subjected them to severe hardship and health risks.

According to residents, the road has deteriorated into a dusty stretch that leaves homes, vehicles, and businesses constantly covered in thick layers of dust. They claim the situation has become unbearable, with many people reportedly developing respiratory-related illnesses and making frequent visits to hospitals.
A video obtained from the area shows clouds of dust engulfing the environment, leaving the community looking neglected and difficult to navigate. Residents say the condition is particularly dangerous for vulnerable individuals, including children, the elderly, and people suffering from asthma and other respiratory conditions.
“We are begging the government to come to our aid. The dust is everywhere and it is affecting our health and daily lives,” one resident lamented.
The affected residents expressed disappointment that despite ongoing infrastructural developments showcased across parts of Enugu State, their community has continued to suffer from what they described as years of neglect.
They urged the state government to intervene immediately by completing and rehabilitating the road before the situation worsens, insisting that the welfare and health of residents should be treated as a priority.
The residents maintain that the road requires urgent attention to alleviate the environmental and health challenges confronting those living along the axis.
