A pastor has stirred reactions online after claiming that Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, deliberately gives answers that make him appear confused or “like a mad man” during interviews.
Speaking during a sermon, the cleric argued that Obi’s responses are not a sign of incompetence but a calculated political strategy.
According to him, many Nigerians have criticized Obi’s interview performances, with some concluding that he lacks the qualities needed to lead the country. However, the pastor insisted that the former Anambra governor knows exactly what he is doing.
“If you watch his interviews, what Peter Obi will be doing is that when you interview him, he always gives what seems like a nonsense answer. He gives nonsense answers to the point that, if you look at him, everybody is now saying, ‘This man cannot be the president.’
You know, it was when I was meditating here that the Holy Spirit made me understand that he knows exactly what he’s doing. Peter Obi is intentional about his campaign,” he said.
He explained further that Peter Obi has no different plan than President Tinubu and this is why he has nothing to really say.
“Can I tell you the truth? He doesn’t have a different manifesto from the current president. This is the reason why, when he’s asked questions many times about subsidy, he gives you what appears to be a nonsense answer.
His answer is that the subsidy that was removed, if he had been elected in his own time, he would have removed it. But he cannot say it now, because if he says it, then there’s no need for him to contest again. It means the president who is there is doing the right thing.
What he’s doing is saying, ‘I’m not going to use my mouth to promote and legalize what that man is doing.’
He’s not stupid. He knows exactly what he’s doing. This is the reason why he’s answering questions in a way that makes him seem like a mad man,” he told his congregation.
