Portugal superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has officially been crowned as the winner of the Euro 2020 golden boot after the competition ended last night with Italy emerging as the Champions.
The Azurri defeated the three lions of England on penalties (3-2) to lift their second-ever Euro trophy. The game was a tough one as both sides remain level on 1-1 after 120 minutes of play before the penalty solved the match.
Gianguili Donnaruma was Italy’s hero as he saves Bukayo Saka’s penalty which crowned them as the champions of the competition. Rashford and Sancho were other players who miss their penalties while Belotti and Jorginho also saw their penalty saved by Jordan Pickford as the game ended in Italy’s favour
However, there were concerns about why Ronaldo was chosen as the winner of the Golden boot despite the fact that he’s having the same number of goals as Switzerland’s Patrick Schick. Both players are on five goals each.
Although, Ronaldo left the competition in the round of 16 when Belgium claimed a 1-0 win over Portugal. While Schick also left in the quarterfinals when Spain defeated Switzerland on penalties.
