Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has disclosed that several major infrastructure projects across Abuja are being targeted for completion before the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the disclosure on Wednesday during an inspection tour of ongoing road and infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory.
The minister inspected the ongoing construction of Arterial Road SI, linking Ring Road II to Arterial Road S20 in Kaura District, as well as Collector Road C2 in Life Camp to Arterial Road N5.
He also inspected work on Arterial Road N16, connecting Ring Road II to Ring Road III, Jereton Mariere Street around the Apo Legislative Quarters in Gudu District, and the IBB Golf Course.
According to Wike, the projects are designed to ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity and open up new areas of the capital city for development.
He expressed confidence that the completion of the N16 project would significantly transform the surrounding areas, describing it as a major infrastructure landmark.
Wike also disclosed that the FCT administration had achieved about 60 per cent implementation of its 2026 capital budget.
He said although there had been an earlier delay in the release of funds which affected payments to contractors, funding for ongoing projects was now flowing.
On the IBB Golf Course, the minister said construction would be completed in time for the facility to host major tournaments by November.
Wike also credited the administration of President Bola Tinubu with redefining infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory, citing the scale of ongoing projects across Abuja.
