A windstorm once again destroyed sections of the National Youth Service Corps temporary orientation camp in Amada, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State on Sunday.
PUNCH online had reported how the camp had previously suffered similar challenges affecting its temporary pavilion and other facilities.
Affected areas include the roofs of hostels accommodating corps members currently undergoing orientation, as well as the camp pavilion.
The Gombe State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Adamu Ibrahim, visited the camp on behalf of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, to assess the extent of the damage and ensure prompt government intervention.
Ibrahim sympathised with NYSC over the incident and assured of swift government action.
“The safety and comfort of corps members posted to Gombe State remains a top priority for the government,” Ibrahim added.
The Gombe State NYSC Coordinator, Chinwe Nwachuku, along with members of her management team, led the commissioner around the affected areas.
She appealed to the state government for urgent repairs, saying “It will enable displaced corps members to return to their designated accommodations.”
