World Toilet Day: APC Group Hails Water Resources Minister For Leading Campaign Against Open Defecation

The leadership of APC Mandate Defenders has lauded the efforts of the Honourable Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Suleiman H. Adamu for leading the campaign to end Open Defecation in Nigeria.

In a statement released to newsmen by the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Mr. Ifeanyi Emeka to mark this year’s World Toilet Day in Abuja, the APC group said it is impressed by the many far-reaching programmes the Water Resources Minister has introduced since assumption of office on August 21.

The group said it is particularly moved by the desire of the Minister not to leave any one behind in his quest to make the country an open defecation free nation by the year 2025, saying Nigeria will achieve the target before the end of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by the year 2030.

The group further noted that because of the efforts of the Minister, 14 Local Governments in Nigeria have been certified Open Defecation Free areas in the country.

With the official launch of the Open Defecation Free Campaigns today with the theme: ‘Clean Nigeria: Use The Toilet,’  the group believes that the remaining 47 million people without access to sanitation services will now cultivate the habit and form the culture of using toilets because it saves life, protects dignity and creates opportunity for industry players.

The group therefore called for the support of states and local governments in the country to support and ensure the success of the exercise.
