Social media personality Eseoghene Obire, popularly known as “Xxssive,” has criticised the rising cost of petrol in Nigeria, calling on President Bola Tinubu to acknowledge the economic pressure facing Nigerians.

Obire, a former aide to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, made the remarks while reacting to the recent surge in petrol prices across parts of the country.

“President Tinubu, one litre of fuel is now ₦1,500. When you assumed office, fuel was ₦200. Seyi Tinubu, tell your dad that fuel is now ₦1,500. All these people promoting APC should go and tell President Tinubu the truth. This is an oil-producing country,” he said.

His comments come as petrol prices have climbed sharply in several states, with reports showing that the product is selling for as much as ₦1,500 per litre in parts of northern Nigeria.

The latest increase follows a recent adjustment in the petrol gantry price by Dangote Petroleum Refinery, which raised its price from ₦1,265 to ₦1,350 per litre effective September 12. The development has contributed to higher retail prices at filling stations.

The Nigeria Labour Congress has also called for measures to cushion the impact of rising petrol prices, as higher fuel costs continue to affect transportation and other living expenses.
