SUPREME COURT 1 720x375 1

The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in an appeal filed by Saidu Umar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenging the victory of Governor Ahmed Aliyu in the 2023 Sokoto State governorship election.

Umar alleged that Aliyu and his deputy, Idris Gobir, used forged certificates to contest the 2023 election.

He also alleged that irregularities occurred in 138 polling units across the state.

However, the tribunal and the Court of Appeal dismissed his claims for being inconsistent.
