Former Canadian prime minister Brian Mulroney has died. He was 84.
“He died peacefully, surrounded by family,” his daughter and Ontario MPP Caroline said in a post to X on Thursday.
Mulroney received medical treatment for prostate cancer in 2022 but had recovered by 2023, according to media reports.
Mulroney, Canada’s 18th prime minister, led successive Progressive Conservative majority governments between 1984 and 1993.
