VP, Shettima Jets Out To America For 2024 US-Africa Business Summit

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima will on Sunday night depart Abuja for Dallas, Texas to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Corporate Council on Africa’s 2024 US-Africa Business Summit.

Shettima will attend the summit alongside other political and business leaders from Africa, the United States (US), and beyond, according to a statement released on Sunday by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President.

The summit is set to take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Centre in Dallas, Texas, and will include plenary sessions, networking business sessions, and high-level dialogues.

African presidents Joseph Boakai (Liberia), Lazarus Chakwera (Malawi), Joao Lourenço (Angola), Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi (Botswana), and José Maria Neves (Cape Verde) are among those slated to attend the summit, Nkwocha continued. The deputy prime minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Nthomeng Majara, is also anticipated at the meeting.

Shettima is scheduled to give a speech at the Roundtable on African Infrastructure Investment, emphasising impact and returns, in addition to the summit plenary. He will be discussing “transiting from food insecurity to thriving agribusinesses” at a high-level panel discussion on agribusiness.

The Vice President will also chair a session supporting the Invest in Nigeria programme and give a speech at a plenary on Navigating Africa’s Energy Future.

It is anticipated that he will participate in further gatherings and events outside of the summit.
