The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State has received a major boost ahead of the 2027 general elections following the return of former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, to the party.
Inuwa, who had been politically estranged from Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and openly criticised his administration for years, formally returned to the APC at a reception organised in his honour by the Zawiyyah Foundation in Katsina.
His return marks a significant political reconciliation between two prominent figures who were once on opposing sides of the state’s APC political structure.
Inuwa left the APC in 2022 after losing the party’s governorship ticket to Radda and subsequently became a vocal critic of the governor. Four years later, he has now pledged to support the APC and the Radda administration.
Welcoming him back, Governor Radda described Inuwa’s return as an important step towards strengthening the party’s unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor said his political relationship with Inuwa dates back more than 30 years, stressing that political differences should not overshadow the broader interest of Katsina State.
Radda also urged APC members to put aside personal ambitions and work towards securing victory for President Bola Tinubu and other party candidates in 2027.
Inuwa, in his response, described the APC as his political home and called on party members to prioritise the collective interest over past disagreements.
According to him, the party must now focus on winning elections and strengthening its structures from the grassroots to the national level.
The former SSG also acknowledged the support received by the Radda administration from residents, pointing to its interventions in areas including security, agriculture and grassroots development.
The Katsina APC leadership welcomed the development, with state chairman Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa describing the reconciliation as a positive step towards consolidating the party’s position in the state.
The development comes at a time when political parties are beginning to reposition ahead of the 2027 elections, making the reconciliation between Radda and his former political critic potentially significant for the APC’s efforts to maintain its dominance in Katsina.
