2027: Fubara Pledges 3 Million Votes for Tinubu in Rivers, Thanks President for Resolving Political Crisis

Fubara, Tinubu

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his intervention in the political crisis that rocked the state, pledging to mobilise at least three million votes for the President in the 2027 general election.

Fubara made the pledge on Saturday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, where he publicly reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The governor described Tinubu’s visit to Rivers State as a demonstration of his commitment to the state and the Niger Delta region, expressing appreciation for the President’s role in resolving the prolonged political disagreement that threatened his administration.

According to Fubara, Tinubu intervened at a critical moment when the state was experiencing intense political uncertainty, helping to restore peace and ensure that his administration continued to function.

“Your visit is not just a visit to us; it is an affirmation of the bond between Rivers State and the Federal Government, as well as your personal love and commitment to Rivers State and this region,” he said.

Recalling the political crisis, the governor said the President acted like a father and statesman by reaching out to the warring parties and making personal sacrifices to restore stability.

“When our state was at a crossroads, you intervened as a father and as a true statesman amidst intense political uncertainty.

“You did not look away; you reached out with a fatherly hand, called for peace and harmony, intervened directly and made personal sacrifices so our administration could remain standing and continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of Rivers State,” Fubara stated.

He subsequently thanked Tinubu on behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, assuring the President of the state’s support ahead of the next presidential election.

“Mr President, we all know that a good gesture calls for reciprocity. As you have stood for us, we will stand for you. As you have supported Rivers State, Rivers State will support you equally,” he added.

Fubara also reaffirmed his commitment to the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party political alliance led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, despite identifying himself as a member of the APC.

“Let me also put it on record that in Rivers State, notwithstanding that I am an APC member, we are doing Rainbow Coalition,” the governor said.

The Rivers political crisis escalated in March 2025 when President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state, suspending Governor Fubara, his deputy and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The emergency rule was lifted in September 2025, six months after its declaration, following efforts to address the political impasse.

Tinubu subsequently intervened in the lingering disagreement between Fubara and Wike, with both political figures eventually agreeing to work together in support of the President’s 2027 re-election ambition.
