A lot of times, the focus is always on the women when the topic of infertility is being raised up. Surprisingly, about 33% or one third of all fertility issues are caused by male infertility. This mean that women are not always the cause of infertility issues. Some men could be unable to impregnate a woman due to so many reasons and some of them are:
1. Low sperm count or Azoospermia.
Sperm count is the quantity and quality of sperm cells a man releases during one release. On the other hand, azoospermia is the complete absence of sperm cells in a man’s seminal fluid. It might occur when there is a blockage in a man’s reproduction tract or when the sperm cells that are produced are inadequate so some of them rarely survive. These are possible reasons why a man might be unable to make a woman pregnant.
2. Infertility due to smoking and drinking.
Several bad habits like excessive drinking, smoking and using hard drugs can reduce the quality of a man’s sperm and this can make him unable to impregnate a woman. So if you are really trying to conceive, it is recommended that you cut down on your intake of any of these things listed above.
3. Infertility due to excessive weight.
Generally, men who are overweight might have issues with fertility. When men have excess fat in their body, especially around their abdominal region, their chances of being fertile and impregnating a woman are greatly affected.
This is mostly because excessive fat in the body does not stay idle. They work to convert the male hormone which is responsible for fertility (testosterone) to a female hormone (estrogen) which can have a very detrimental effect on sperm production, thereby preventing a man from being able to impregnate a woman.
