Road Crashes Across Ogun

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) reports that 48 persons died from 82 crashes across the state between September and December 2025.

The corps’ spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

Mr Akinbiyi explained that during the period, 165 others sustained various degrees of injuries.

Comparing the period with 2024, he stated that there was an increase in the number of persons killed by 54.17 per cent.

He, however, stated that the number of persons injured and cases of road traffic crashes reduced by 13.94 per cent and 12.20 per cent, respectively.

“Statistical records show that between September and December 2024, a total of 92 cases were recorded, with 188 people injured and 22 persons killed during the period.

“Pedestrian involvement in road crashes declined by 66.67 per cent. Commercial and private vehicle involvement in road crashes also declined by 150 per cent and 81.25 per cent, respectively.

“Bus involvement reduced by 52.94 per cent, articulated vehicle reduced by 37.5 per cent, while car involvement reduced by 41.67 per cent,” he said.

Mr Akinbiyi, however, explained that the statistics were as witnessed by TRACE and the Nigeria Police Force in the areas covered.
