Binance’s Tigran Gambaryan, currently detained, has taken legal action against National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging violations of his fundamental rights.

Represented by Olujoke Aliyu from Aluko and Oyebode Law Firm, Gambaryan filed a motion on March 18 before Justice Inyang Ekwo, seeking relief.

Similarly, Nadeem Anjarwalla, Binance’s Africa regional manager, who escaped custody on March 22, filed a separate suit before Justice Ekwo. Both suits, labeled FHC/ABJ/CS/356/24 and FHC/ABJ/CS/355/24, name ONSA and EFCC as respondents and seek similar reliefs.

Gambaryan, a US citizen overseeing financial crime compliance, challenges his detention and passport seizure, citing violations of the constitution.

He also seeks release from custody, passport return, injunction against further detention, a public apology, and indemnity costs.

Gambaryan states he attended a meeting with Anjarwalla, was detained thereafter, and alleges no personal wrongdoing communicated to him.

When the suits were called, Anjarwalla and Gambaryan’s legal representative, T.J. Krukrubo, informed the court of withdrawal of representation for Anjarwalla, possibly due to his disappearance.

Justice Ekwo adjourned both matters to April 8 for further mention. In Gambaryan’s case, Krukrubo noted the serviceon ONSA and EFCC and requested an adjournment for their response, which Justice Ekwo granted.
