Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi’s son, Oseloka Obi, has reportedly broken his silence after photos of him with a friend leaked online, sparking mixed reactions among Nigerians.
In his statement, he said:
“Dear my fellow Nigerians, I have refrained from engaging with suspicions directed at me online because I was not raised to indulge in lies or false narratives. Because of my father’s involvement in Nigeria politics there’s been a malic+ious curiosity about me for reasons I don’t know. I have no social media or interest in having one so I rarely correct the false allegations but perhaps it’s time to address this. I understand that gossips follow those involved in public life but my dad is the one involved in politics not me.”
The actor and writer, Oseloka Obi, also spoke about his father’s support for his chosen career path. He said:
“I’m an actor and writer by profession and I’m sure many are surprised giving that my father is businessman, entrepreneur and economist, I’m sure he imagined I might follow that part yet, though my career is far from what he envisioned he still fully supports me. Unlike many other Nigerian children I was not raised with nepotism I was made to know that my father’s wealth is not mine and I must build my own life.”
Oseloka’s statement comes amid speculations about his s+xuality. He emphasized that the comments are malicious and stressed that, as an actor, he is permitted to embody different characters and roles without such assumptions
