Kylian Mbappé, captain of France and forward for Real Madrid, has spoken candidly in a revealing interview with L’Équipe. The 26-year-old admitted that while his passion keeps him in the game, the world of football often leaves him feeling conflicted and rejected.
“I’ve made peace with the fact that football’s what it is today but life outside it’s wonderful. If I didn’t have this passion, I would have felt disg¥sted by this world years ago,” Mbappé said.
His remarks came just days after delivering a strong performance for Les Bleus in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where he scored and assisted in France’s 2-1 victory over Iceland at the Parc des Princes, following another goal against Ukraine.
Since joining Real Madrid this summer and taking the iconic No.10 shirt, Mbappé has quickly found form, netting four goals in just three La Liga matches. It marks a sharp return after a trophyless 2024/25 season.
But despite his success, Mbappé opened up about the pressures that come with stardom:
“More money brings more problems. People want to keep the old image of you as a kid but you’re no longer that person. You’ve responsibilities and commitments that you’re accountable for,” he reflected.
He added that while some athletes manage to adapt, many struggle with the harsh realities of public life:
“It doesn’t always go the way you want and we’ve to admit that.”
In his most surprising statement, Mbappé revealed a personal wish:
“I hope my children h+te football and never get close to this world.”
The confession has sparked widespread debate, offering a rare glimpse into the inner struggles of one of football’s biggest stars at the peak of his career.
